About Us
Jennifer DeRosa is founder of AdaptABLE for LIFE. As early as a sophomore in high school, Jennifer knew she wanted to be an occupational therapist. During a job shadowing opportunity, she met a retired lawyer whom walked in to the clinic with his face half shaven and his shirt on twisted and inside out because of his impaired body awareness resulting from the stroke he had suffered. While observing the occupational therapist help this man regain his self-efficacy, rebuild his memory skills and motor skills, and resume his life roles as Granddad, husband, and lawyer, Jennifer knew occupational therapy services were a vehicle to help people rewrite the meaning in their lives.
As a licensed occupational therapist for over 13 years, Jennifer provided exceptional services in hospitals, intensive care units, rehab centers, and home health agencies throughout the country. This experience coupled with continued education that is the foundation of her community based consultative business, AdaptABLE for LIFE.
Jennifer is passionate about helping people with different abilities make educated decisions so they may live in their home of choice and engaged in life to the fullest. Additionally, she consults with companies striving to develop programs which support their clientele living in the community.
Early on in my professional training I studied the teachings of many “pioneers” in occupational therapy, however, there is one in particular, Mary Reilly, whom I believe has eloquently stated the philosophy which inspires my work, “Man, through the use of his hands, as they are energized by mind and will, can influence the state of his own health.” It has become my life’s work to help you influence the state of your own life.
